What is the purpose of your parenting? Do you parent with purpose?

www.parent-with-purpose.com, gratitude, purpose, parenting

Parent with purpose comes from the idea that when we start something, we should have a reason for doing it. When we plan a family trip we do it with a purpose; to see the Eiffel Tower or the Golden Gate Bridge. As we plan the trip we begin with the end result in mind, to see the site. As we parent, we need to do the same. We need to visualize the qualities and character we want to see in our children and guide them on that path.

Think about the purpose behind the training you give your child. As parents, our goal needs to be more than just getting through another day. As parents and educators ourselves, we realize that it is easy to get overwhelmed. It is easy to have good intentions but lack the knowledge of how to follow through. It is also difficult to stay motivated and be proactive as a parent.

We want to help give you the professional development that we all need as parents. We want to provide you with resources to teach your child and give you the encouragement to help you parent with purpose.

1. We offer a free ezine that provides quality information to help you as a parent. There are a variety of topics such as: behavior management, benefits of reading, teaching manners, and tips for getting your family physically active.

2. We sponsor a free summer reading program to help keep your kids reading all summer long. We reward the children (along with other sponsors) that complete the challenge with FREE prizes.

3. We recommend children’s books that help you teach things like manners, respect, and responsibility. We have also included some of our favorites to help teach art, math, science, and history. And of course we’ve included some classics and stories that just let your imaginations grow.

4. We will soon be offering a character education program that allows you to teach virtues such as honesty, respect, and self-reliance in your home. The materials will be delivered electronically, so you can print them at your convenience.

Please take some time to look through the site and read some of the articles posted. We hope that some of the information here will help you feel that what you are doing as a parent is worth it, even on those hard days, and maybe give you a little push to parent with purpose!

Nutrition is taught explicitly and implicitly
Nutrition is so important in the lives our children. Eating healthy food gives them a great start in life. Are you setting a good example by eating healthy foods & nutrient rich meals?

Reading to babies is important for their development; emotional & intellectual.
Reading to babies allows parents to bond with their infant. Babys learn the comforting sound of their parents voice while being held close. It allows little ones to learn language skills.

Reading to tots (toddlers) helps them understand the world around them!
Reading to tots helps little ones develop their language skills and make sense of their world. Toddlers have been watching and listening for years trying to understand what is going on around them.
